On July 2nd and 3rd, in Rio, the Midterm Conference of T20 Brasil will be held, one of the G20 engagement groups. Leaders from 121 national and international think tanks, academia members, representatives from the public and private sectors, and civil society will discuss and propose solutions to major global challenges, including combating hunger and inequalities, energy transition, digital transformation, and global governance reform.
The meeting strengthens the involvement of think tanks and academic institutions during Brazil's presidency in the G20, by disseminating knowledge produced by the six task forces of T20 Brasil. Clear conclusions and recommendations are compiled in the "Communiqué," a document to be delivered to the leaders of the Sherpa and Finance tracks of the G20, contributing to fostering dialogue and formulating public policies.
This will be the first time the Communiqué is delivered in advance, allowing for thorough analysis and influence on leaders' negotiations and the joint statement formulation during the G20 Summit in November 2024.
T20 is one of the 13 official Engagement Groups of the G20, bringing together international think tanks and research centers from member countries and invited countries and organizations. T20's main objective is to produce, debate, consolidate, and present policy recommendations to the leaders of the largest forum for international economic cooperation.
Since late 2023, the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI), Alexandre de Gusmão Foundation (FUNAG), and Institute of Applied Economic Research (Ipea) have formed the Organizing Committee of T20 Brasil.
The T20 Brasil Midterm Conference is organized by CEBRI, IPEA, FUNAG, Rio de Janeiro City Hall, and BNDES, and sponsored by CAF, Equinor, Veirano Advogados, AWS, Microsoft, KAS Brazil, and Suzano.
