The crisis triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic brought about consequences for the electricity sector and highlighted the importance of electricity for countries' energy security and for the maintenance of essential services. On June 18th, the current scenario and the future of the electricity sector in Brazil were discussed at a meeting organized by CEBRI with the President of Eletrobras, Wilson Ferreira Junior. The main topics discussed at the meeting were the response of the Brazilian electricity sector to the crisis and the lessons learned from the crisis; privatization and the future of Eletrobras and long-term trends, such as the transition to a low-carbon economy, digitization and the growth of renewables in the sector. Present at the meeting were sector representatives and CEBRI members, like CEBRI's President José Pio Borges and CEBRI's Vice-President Jorge Carmargo.
