Biography Gregório Cruz Araújo Maciel
Senior Researcher at the Brazilian Center of International Relations (CEBRI). Sector Manager of Reforestation and Environmental Projects at Petrobras. He has served in the position of Senior Economist at Petrobras since 2008, with management roles in the Strategy and Planning department. The department is responsible for the development of competitive intelligence studies, the preparation and monitoring of long-term corporate scenarios, as well as macroeconomic projections on prices and demand for oil, derivatives and natural gas that support Petrobras' strategic planning. Araújo served as Member of the “Future Energy Leaders Program” and of the “Scenarios Committee” of the World Energy Council, as well as Secondee at the International Energy Agency, contributing to the elaboration of the Brazil chapter at the World Economic Outlook's 2013 edition.
In 2003, he obtained his Bachelor's degree in Economics from the Federal University of Uberlândia, followed by his Master's in Economics in 2009 from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), where he focused specifically on energy regulation. In 2015, Araújo gained his Ph.D. in Economic Development and Natural Resources, also from UFRJ. He was awarded first place in the V SEAE Award in Defense of Competition and Economic Regulation, granted by the Brazilian Ministry of Finance's Economic Surveillance Department, in 2010. In 2015, Araújo came first place among the articles chosen in the 9th Edition of the Conference of the Brazilian Association for Energy Studies.
