Biography Guilherme Dantas
Guilherme is a founding partner of Essenz Solutions. He is a consultant in the infrastructure sector with an emphasis on energy, sanitation, and biomass. He holds a PhD in Energy Planning from COPPE/UFRJ, a Master's degree in Energy and Environmental Economics and Policy from the Technical University of Lisbon, and a Bachelor's degree in Economics from UFRJ. He is a specialist in Regulatory Economics, with a focus on incentive-based remuneration models, impacts of distributed energy resources, tariff structures, and market models. In addition, he conducts technical and economic studies on renewable technology projects in the electricity sector and biorefineries producing advanced biofuels and/or chemicals. More recently, he has been developing technical and economic analyses of hydrogen and offshore wind projects. He has extensive experience in project management and people leadership. Over the past years, he has provided services to groups and institutions such as EDP, CSN, AES, Unica, Eletrobras, CPFL, ITAIPU BINACIONAL, ONS, ENEVA, ENERGISA, LIGHT, ABEEOLICA, ENGIE, NORTE ENERGIA, ABRADEE Institute, and CEPAL/ONU, as well as delivering numerous lectures in Brazil and abroad. Between 2007 and 2012, he worked as a Senior Researcher at GESEL, and between 2013 and 2019, he coordinated distribution sector projects for the same group. He was a partner of the consulting company TECHNE/GESEL from 2010 to 2019. He is the author of books and articles in the energy sector and a reviewer of international journals, including Energy Policy, Omega, and Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews. He is a professor of the executive MBA in Electricity Sector Business Management at FGV and of extension courses organized by COPPE/UFRJ.
