Energy Transition in the Maritime Sector

CEBRI, in partnership with the Norwegian Consulate in Rio de Janeiro and Catavento Consultoria, is pleased to share the report "Energy Transition in the Maritime Sector". The publication is the result of the event "Energy Transition in the Maritime Sector", held by the CEBRI Energy Program, on July 11th, 2019. The report represents another chapter of CEBRI's work on the energy transition, this time bringing perspectives from the maritime transport sector, fundamental for Brazil's insertion in global trade flows. In this sense, it considers the challenges and opportunities of the maritime sector regarding the reduction of carbon and sulfur emissions, in addition to the impacts of this change for the energy sector. It also considers Brazil's position in this transition scenario with the opportunities presented by the pre-salt layer and the greater insertion of natural gas within the energy grid.
