Izabella Teixeira participates in Ministerial Meeting on Circular Economy at COP29

On November 16, Izabella Teixeira, Trustee Emeritus at CEBRI, participated in the Ministerial Meeting on Circular Economy, titled "Empowering Interregional Partnerships for Circular Economy Transition: Towards a Climate-Resilient and Sustainable Future via Resource-Efficiency." The event was organized by the COP29 Presidency in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

The meeting highlighted the transformative impact of material efficiency and circular economy approaches on key drivers of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, spanning the entire lifecycle from product design to disposal.

Key objectives of the meeting included:

  • Expanding knowledge on opportunities and challenges for transitioning to a just and resource-efficient circular economy;
  • Exploring innovative solutions, including diversification practices, sustainable resource management, and the integration of circular tools across various sectors;
  • Showcasing inspiring examples of countries leveraging circular economy strategies to enhance climate ambition, particularly through their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
