Biography Simone Deos
Senior Researcher at the Brazilian Center of International Relations (CEBRI). Simone Deos holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Economics from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1990 and 1997 respectively), a PhD in Economics from the State University of Campinas (2001) and a Post-Doctorate from the Levy Economics Institute, Bard College (2015).
She was Associate Professor at the Institute of Economics of the State University of Campinas (2018) and is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Economics at the State University of Campinas; a researcher at the Center for International Relations Studies (CERI) and at the China-Brazil Study Group at the same University; Associate Editor at the Review of Political Economy Journal (ROPE); and Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Functional Finance for Development (IFFD).
At the Institute of Economics at Unicamp, she was Executive Director of the Center for International Economic Relations (CERI), Research Coordinator, Graduate Coordinator, Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Economic Sciences and General Coordinator of the Graduate Program.
Her research focuses on Macroeconomics, Monetary and Financial Economics and Political Economy, working specifically on the topics of modern monetary theory, neoliberalism critiques, financial fragility and instability (crises), the regulation of banking systems and development finance.
