On December 11, 2024, the Institute of the Americas (IOA) and CEBRI held a conference on regional energy integration in South America, supported by Siemens Energy, Integra Capital, Origem, and ERM. The event discussed opportunities and challenges for fostering regional energy cooperation, emphasizing the need to harness renewable energy sources and natural gas, optimize infrastructure, and promote sector investments. Regional integration was seen as key to enhancing energy security and climate resilience, with private sector involvement and support from multilateral banks being crucial to driving necessary investments. The goal is to position South America as a global leader in renewable energy and energy stability
