On May 22, Raul Jungmann, Trustee at the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI), President of the Brazilian Institute of Mining (IBRAM), and former Minister of Agrarian Reform (1999–2002), Defense (2016–2018), and Public Security (2018–2019) of Brazil, was honored with the title of Doctor Honoris Causa by the Brazilian Institute of Education, Development, and Research (IDP) in a ceremony held in Brasília.
This honor, regarded as the highest academic distinction granted by higher education institutions, was awarded in recognition of Jungmann's remarkable trajectory in Brazilian public life. With over four decades of experience, the Trustee has played a central role in fundamental issues such as defense, public security, agrarian reform, and, more recently, sustainable mining.
The ceremony was attended by the Honorable Ministers of the Supreme Federal Court Flávio Dino, Dias Toffoli, and Gilmar Mendes, Minister of Defense José Múcio Monteiro, and Attorney General Paulo Gonet, who participated in the tribute ceremony.
The title of Doctor Honoris Causa — a Latin expression meaning "for the sake of honor" — is awarded to individuals whose contributions have significantly impacted areas such as education, culture, and public service.
