The challenges and opportunities of COP30 are at the heart of the international debate, and coordination between different players is essential for the country to move forward with concrete solutions. The next Conference of the Parties will be a strategic milestone for defining directions and commitments in a global context of growing climate and political challenges.
Against this backdrop, the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI), in partnership with the Arapyaú Institute, held a meeting with actors from the private sector to discuss the paths to COP30. Ambassador André Corrêa attended the event do Lago, CEBRI Councillor and President of COP30, who shared his vision of the challenges and opportunities of the Conference and reinforced the important role of the most diverse actors in this agenda.
The moderator was Izabella Teixeira, CEBRI's International Advisory Board member and a fellow of the Arapyaú Institute, who led the conversation with an in-depth approach to the critical aspects of the climate agenda. Opening remarks were made by Julia Dias Leite, CEBRI's CEO, and Renata Piazzon, Director General of the Arapyaú Institute, who stressed the importance of collaboration for the success of COP30.
"Brazil promises to inaugurate the decade of implementation at COP30. We are an environmental powerhouse and have the opportunity to stand out as an example of a green economy and inspire global transformation. In this context, the engagement of all sectors - private, public, academia, civil society - is essential, and the ambassador's willingness to listen and engage in dialogues like the one we have been able to promote now has been admirable," says Renata Piazzon, director general of the Arapyaú Institute.
The debate addressed expectations for the conference and the challenges of financing, governance and implementation of climate commitments. At a time of global transition, the need for coordinated action between governments, the private sector and civil society is becoming increasingly urgent. Brazil will play a key role in building an ambitious and practical climate agenda as the host country.
"COP30 represents a decisive moment for Brazil to consolidate its global climate leadership. To move towards a sustainable economy, coordination between different sectors is essential. This meeting, held in partnership with the Arapyaú Institute, reinforces our commitment to qualified dialog and building concrete solutions to environmental challenges," says the CEO at CEBRI, Julia Dias Leite.
The meeting reaffirmed the importance of COP30 and the need to expand dialog and cooperation so that the decisions taken can generate concrete and lasting impacts.
