On 13 March, the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) and the China Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) formalized a strategic partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The document aims to strengthen Brazil-China relations through international cooperation in initiatives focused on climate change and energy transition aligned with bilateral and multilateral events relevant to both countries, such as the China-CELAC Forum, the BRICS+ Summit and COP30. The goal is to promote institutional exchange and dialog in strategic areas for the “new 50 golden years” of Sino-Brazilian relations.
The CPAFFC is a national organization engaged in people-to-people diplomacy in the People's Republic of China. The Association's objectives are to increase friendship between peoples, promote international cooperation, safeguard world peace and promote common development.
The signing ceremony was attended by Julia Dias Leite, CEO at CEBRI, and Shen Xin, Vice-President at CPAFFC. Also present for CEBRI were Ambassador Antônio Souza e Silva, Advisory Councillor for Institutional and Government Relations; Senior Fellow, Larissa Wachholz, and, respectively, Project Manager and Project Coordinator, Thaís Batista and Isabella Avila.
Representing the CPAFFC were Chen Kuanghuai, Director of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs; Ye Zi, Director of Non-Governmental Affairs; Lin Zhichang, Coordinator of Brazilian Affairs; and Zhang Genjun, Secretary of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs.
The event was also attended by representatives of the Institute for Climate and Society (iCS), including Cíntya Feitosa, Head of Climate Diplomacy, and Pedro Spadale, Consultant for Projects with Subnationals, as well as Emmanuel Guerin, Director of the European Climate Foundation.
With this partnership, CEBRI reinforces its commitment to building global agendas, strengthening its position as a strategic player on the international stage.
