CEBRI present at the Future Minerals Forum in Saudi Arabia Energy

For the first time, CEBRI is present at one of the world's leading mining events in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Future Minerals Forum (FMF) is an annual international forum dedicated to the minerals and mining industry, held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Founded in 2021 by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia, the event brings together governments, international organizations, companies, and experts to discuss the industry's most pressing issues. This year's edition takes place from January 14 to 16. The forum represents a key opportunity to discuss topics such as sustainability, technological innovation, and best practices in the industry.

Rafaela Guedes, Senior Fellow at CEBRI, will participate in three panels during the event. First, as a speaker in the Roundtable "Leadership of Latin America," which takes place on January 15. The panel aims to gather ministers and government representatives, CEOs, industry association leaders, and experts to discuss Latin America's potential in supplying minerals. Additionally, it will address the main challenges, priorities related to skills development, knowledge exchange on priority investments to create or strengthen regional value chains, and opportunities for collaboration with the region, including Asia and Africa, on mining, processing, and infrastructure projects.

On January 16, the Senior Fellow will moderate the discussion session "Plan to Transform Mineral Resources into Sustainable Prosperity" with author Doris Hiam-Galvez, addressing sustainable resource management and the importance of innovation in this process. On the same day, she will also speak on the panel "Valuing Water: Turning Water into a Revenue-Generating Metric for Mineral Production: A Plan to Transform Mineral Resources into Sustainable Prosperity."

"CEBRI's participation in the event is within the context of its program on Critical and Strategic Minerals, which aims to assess Brazil's demand and capacity to become a supplier of these minerals for the energy transition. Our goal in Riyadh will be to gather insights and contribute to topics such as energy transition, technological innovation, and circular economy in mining, as well as to present the perspective of a Latin American country, a region that could be participating much more in these global discussions considering its potential. We seek knowledge exchange and the formation of partnerships to drive the responsible and sustainable development of mining," says Senior Fellow Rafaela Guedes.
