On November 13, the side event "Business & Climate Ambition," organized by the UN Global Compact – Brazil Network, discussed pathways for aligning business strategies with science and the 1.5°C climate ambition. The session highlighted the progress made under Brazil's G20 presidency in advancing a just energy transition and emphasized the importance of each country retaining sovereignty over its chosen transition pathways.
Moderated by Rubens Filho, Executive Manager of Environment at the UN Global Compact – Brazil Network, the event featured discussions on the Brazilian case, where sustainable biofuels such as SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) and Biobunker were identified as key tools for carbon emission reduction and promoting energy transition.
Panelists included Rafaela Guedes, Senior Fellow at CEBRI, Alberto Kleiman, Project Director at SECOP, Karen Oliveira, Director of Public Policy at The Nature Conservancy (TNC), and Raul Protázio Romão, Secretary of the Environment and Sustainability of the State of Pará.
