At the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29), held in Baku, CEBRI participated in strategic discussions addressing crucial topics such as critical minerals, just energy transition, climate finance mechanisms, and sustainable practices.
On November 15, Izabella Teixeira, Trustee Emeritus of CEBRI, participated in the panel “Viable Pathways for Low Carbon Agriculture in Latin America and the Caribbean,” organized by the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), Marfrig, and BRF.
The event explored various perspectives on how to leverage the potential of emerging technologies and digitalization to develop more efficient products, systems, and networks. Topics discussed included the role of smart buildings in terms of energy efficiency and how countries can use standards to drive digital transformation to achieve energy and sustainable development goals. Additionally, the importance of international cooperation for the responsible adoption of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), was highlighted.
The panel also brought together Manuel Otero, CEO of IICA, Paulo Pianez, Sustainability Director of Marfrig Global Foods & BRF, Fernando Sampaio, Sustainability Director of ABIEC (Brazilian Association of Meat Exporting Industries) and Caroline Prolo, Head of Climate Stewardship at Fama Re.capital.
