The Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) organized a discussion on June 7, during the event “Financing Sustainable Development: Brazil-China Dialogue on Climate and Nature Finance”, held in the context of the visit of the Vice-President of the Republic and Minister of Development, Industry, Trade and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, to China for meetings of the Sino-Brazilian High-Level Concertation and Cooperation Commission (COSBAN).

Organized in partnership with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), the Brazil-China Business Council (CEBC) and the Institute for Climate and Society (iCS), the initiative brought together representatives and experts from the public and private sectors of both countries to discuss opportunities for expanding financing for sustainable development between Brazil and China.

The debate was opened by the Vice-President of Brazil, Geraldo Alckmin, and the President of the AIIB, Jin Liqun, with two thematic panels: “Measures to promote low-carbon development”, mediated by CEBC Executive Director Claudia Trevisan, and “How to enhance low-carbon collaboration, with special focus on China-Brazil”, mediated by CEBRI Senior Fellow Larissa Wachholz.

The discussions also included experts from the Brazilian and Chinese ministries, such as Ambassador Tatiana Rosito, CEBRI Senior Fellow and Secretary for International Affairs at the Brazilian Ministry of Finance, and Zhang Jianyu, from the Chinese Ministry of Ecology and Environment.
