How to achieve carbon neutrality? What pathways enable the most efficient use of resources? These were some of the questions that the Energy Transition Program (ETP) answered during its first phase, in 2021.
During the initial phase of the ETP, three scenarios for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions neutrality by 2050 were launched, and the results were presented in an analytical document that includes policy recommendations. Over 100 stakeholders representing various sectors actively participated, promoting 12 online and in-person events, which resulted in three reports that are being used as a base for the National Energy Transition Policy, influencing work in entities such as the Ministry of Mines and Energies
Developed in collaboration with the Energy Research Office (EPE in its Portuguese acronym) and the Centre for Energy and Environmental Economics (Cenergia), the program is currently in its second phase, which aims to develop sectoral roadmaps for the period of 2025 to 2040.
To further dive into the topic, Rafaela Guedes, Independent Consultant and Senior Fellow at CEBRI, and Décio Oddone, Coordinator of the Energy Program at CEBRI and CEO of Enauta, spoke with Leila Sterenberg, Senior Fellow at CEBRI and journalist.
