The Director of Institutional Relations and Communications Carla Duarte represented CEBRI at the event “The Future of Think Tanks and Policy Advice in Latin America”, organized by the University of Pennsylvania’s Think Tanks & Civil Societies Program (TTCSP). Co-sponsored by CEBRI, the webinar took place on June 8, 2021.
The webinar discussed the future of think tanks in Latin America and the challenges and opportunities these institutions face in playing a fundamental role in public debate and in the formulation of public policies. For Carla Duarte, "looking at the future of think tanks, both the pandemic and the political circumstances in Brazil have led to a more decentralized approach in regards to policy formulation and influence."
Present at the event were Jim McGann (TTCSP), Juan Battaleme (CARI), Elaine Ford (D&D Internacional), Klaus Stier (FGV), Pol Morillas (CIDOB), Carla Duarte (CEBRI), Jason Marczak (Atlantic Council) and Mercedes Mendez Ribas (CIPPEC). Along with CEBRI, the event was also sponsored by the Atlantic Council, CARI, CIDOB CIPPEC, D&D International and the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV).
