Joaquim Levy Talks about the Carbon Emission Rate in CEBRI Debate

Valor Econômico

The increase in the average global carbon tax can create many opportunities for Brazil, especially for the Amazon region, outlined former Finance Minister Joaquim Levy during a virtual debate organized by the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) on Monday.

The issue resurfaced after the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, defended the creation of an international carbon price floor last week. According to Georgieva, the average global carbon tax price per tonne should rise from the current $2 to $75.
