According to the Senior Vice-President of the data analysis company IHS Markit, Carlos Pascual, the carbon credits market has the potential to transact from US$50 billion to US$100 billion globally per year.

Pascual also argued that affirmed that the carbon credit market is a great diplomatic opportunity for Brazil. He made the remarks at an online event organized by the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI).
