COP30 | Creating value from minerals for the transition

This roundtable focuses on the social, environmental, and governance dimensions of mineral production for the energy transition. It will discuss safeguards and best practices to ensure active participation of local communities, effective licensing processes, and both socioeconomic and environmental returns from the activities. Inspired by the results of the research on "Brazil’s Role in the Global Agenda of Strategic and Critical Minerals" and drawing on the experiences of mineral-rich countries, the discussion will gather policymakers, companies, civil society organizations and multilateral institutions to explore how to align mineral production  with sustainable development goals.
