China's Ecological History: Paths Towards Sustainable Development

In his latest book, An Ecological History of Modern China, Professor Stevan Harrell approaches China's recent history through an ecological perspective. Harrell delves into the ecological results of the Chinese growth - which transcend national borders - and their implications on global ecology, economics, and politics. Organized as a joint initiative between CEBRI's China Analysis Group and Environment and Climate Change Thematic Program, this webinar will explore the Asian giant’s transformation since 1949 from a biophysical standpoint. It will examine the nation's ongoing efforts to emerge as a global environmental leader, highlighting both noteworthy progress and persisting ecological challenges.
