Biography Maria Luiza Ribeiro Viotti
Ambassador to the United States of America. She was Permanent Representative of Brazil to the United Nations from 2007 to 2013. In this position, she headed the Brazilian Delegation to the UN Security Council (2010 and 2011), having chaired the Security Council in Frebruary 2011. During her career, she held positions in the areas of trade promotion, multilateral organizations and bilateral policy (South America). She head the Department of Human Rights and the Department of International Organizations. She was Under-Secretary-General for Asia and the Pacific and Sherpa at BRICS. She served at the Embassy of Brazil in Bolivia and at the Mission of Braziln to the UN as First Secretaty, later as Minister-Counselour and finally as Permanent Representative. She was Ambassador of Brazil to Germany (2013-2016) and Chief of Staff of the UN Secretary-General (2017-2021).
