Biography Gabriel Galípolo

Senior Fellow at CEBRI. President of the Central Bank of Brazil since January 1, 2025. Before that, he was Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, a position he held from January to June 2023, and Director of Monetary Policy at the Central Bank, from July 2023 to December 2024. He holds a degree in Economics and a master's degree in Political Economy, both from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP). For more than two decades, he has held positions in Brazilian financial institutions, the São Paulo State Government and the Federal Government. At the beginning of his career, he was a professor in the Economics Department at PUC-SP. He served as Director of the Secretariat of Economy and Planning and was Head of the Economic Advisory Office of the Secretariat of Metropolitan Transportation of the São Paulo State Government from 2007 to 2008. Gabriel Galípolo consolidated his career running his own consultancy for 13 years before making the transition to the financial sector, where he served as CEO of Banco Fator. In 2022 he became a Board Member of the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo and a Senior Researcher at the Brazilian Center for International Relations.
