Biography José Mário Antunes
Senior Fellow at the Brazilian Center of International Relations (CEBRI). Mr. Jose Mario Antunes is Chief Operating Officer at BellaTerra Consulting, in Shanghai, China. Mr. Antunes has more than 15 years of expertise in the development of Brazil-China trade and investment relations and has led highly strategic Brazilian non-governmental operations in China. He previously served as Chief Operating Officer at the Sao Paulo State Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (InvestSP) and at the Brazilian National Confederation of Agriculture (CNA), in Shanghai, China and as Chief Operating Officer at the Brazilian National Confederation of Transport (CNT), Chief Operating Officer at the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil) and Chief Representative Officer at the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), in Beijing, China.
He began his career in the private sector, in São Paulo, Brazil, interning for WTORRE Construction Company since his second year of engineering studies where he reached top managerial positions. Afterwards he transitioned to the financial sector, working for Arab Banking Corporation and Bank of China. He engaged in a humanitarian project at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, leading the Mission Committee of the organization before moving to China. Mr. Jose Mario Antunes holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Instituto Maua de Tecnologia - EEM, in Sao Paulo, Brazil; a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Fundação Getulio Vargas - EAESP, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, with one year extension at Indiana University - Kelley School of Business, in the USA; as well as a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from Tsinghua University - School of Public Policy and Management, Beijing, China.
