The topic of CEBRI Breaking News #24 is “Women, Technology and Security”, addressing issues such as the causes and costs of low female participation in the technology field, the continuing challenge of combating violence against women around the world and the importance of developing multilateral institutions and public policies that are sensitive to gender inequalities.
The pubication is the result of the seminar "Women, Technology and Security" held by CEBRI, in partnership with the Consulate General of Ireland in Sao Paulo and the Institute of International Relations (IRI) of PUC-Rio. The seminar was attended by the first panel of Silicon Republic founder and CEO, Ann O'Dea; Recode's CEO, Luisa Ribeiro; and the researcher from the Institute of Technology & Society (ITS) in Rio de Janeiro, Debora Albu. The event also featured, in a second panel, lectures by the Austrian Ambassador to Brazil, Irene Giner-Reichl and the Coordinator of Public Security and Justice of the Igarapé Institute, Renata Giannini. The seminar panels were introduced and moderated by CEBRI's Academic and Projects Coordinator, Monique Sochaczewski.
