Throughout 2016, CEBRI's South America Program dedicated itself to a series of activities to rethink new perspectives for regional integration in South America, in light of Brazil's fragile economic situation and a changing international geopolitical end economic system. This publication presents a series of papers that were developed as a reflection exercise on possible paths for building a common agenda for South American countries. The first paper, developed in partnership with the international relations think tanks of the founding countries of Mercosur – the Consejo Argentino para las Relaciones Internacionales (CARI), the Consejo Uruguayo para las Relaciones Internacionales (CURI) and the Centro Paraguayo de Estudios Internacionales (CEPEI) – addresses the main challenges of regional integration, focusing on the agro-industrial, energy and infrastructure sectors. The second paper, by Lúcia Maduro, gives a rich and objective overview of Mercosur's recent developments, its trade agenda and potential paths for its revitalization.
Only available in Portuguese.
