The European Union has given successive responses to the various crises it has faced. Thus, quoting one of the architects of regional integration, Jean Monnet, former President of the European Commission, José Manuel Durão Barroso, summarizes the strength, resistance and resilience of the European bloc in the face of the challenges faced since the second half of the last decade, starting with the international financial crisis and being followed by the eurozone crisis.
Confidence in the bloc has been expressed by the former President of the European Commission in the series of interviews and presentations he has carried out. CEBRI Breaking News #11 is the outcome of the lecture "Nationalism and Populism: The End of Globalization?" given by Durão Barroso in August 2017. The debate was held in partnership with the Institute for Economic Policy Studies/Casa das Garças (IEPE/CdG) and was mediated by both the President of the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI), José Pio Borges, and by CEBRI Trustee Armínio Fraga.
