Energy Transition Program Launches Digital Platform and New Publications on Pathways to Climate Neutrality in Brazil

The second phase of the Energy Transition Program (PTE), an initiative led by the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) in partnership with IDB, BNDES, Coppe (UFRJ), EPE, FIPE (USP), and MRTS (USP), concludes with the release of its Technical Report and visual materials outlining pathways for Brazil to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Building on the Executive Report released in 2025, the new materials provide detailed evidence, methodologies, and recommendations developed throughout the project's second phase. Focusing on the 2025–2050 period, the work highlights the advances needed in public policy and regulation to enable emissions reduction pathways. Among the materials released are:

Digital Platform:

Brings together the project's three scenarios, their macroeconomic impacts — taking into account the feasibility of the projected penetration of renewables in the power sector — and decarbonization roadmaps for the main sectors: energy, cities, transport, industry, agriculture, forests, and land use (AFOLU). The platform also features an interactive tool with access to the project's charts, as well as a comprehensive repository of publications.

Technical Report:

Provides an in-depth overview of the methodology, integrated modeling approach, and sector-specific results.

Available only in Portuguese.

Executive Notebook:

Presents the project's main findings in a concise and visual format, highlighting possible pathways for Brazil to achieve emissions neutrality alongside economic growth, as well as the opportunities associated with the transition to a low-carbon economy.
