Seven leading institutions in public policy and international relations have joined forces to create the Network of Think Tanks of the Americas (CEPAS), an initiative to exchange ideas and experiences focusing on the region's economic, social and political development. The launch of the network represents a milestone in promoting constructive dialog and regional cooperation.
CEPAS is made up of leading institutions on the continent: the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI); the Argentine Council for International Relations (CARI); the Latin American Center for Economic and Social Policies (CLAPES UC), from Chile; the Foundation for Higher Education and Development (Fedesarrollo), from Colombia; the Atlantic Council, from the United States; México Evalúa and the Group of Analysis for Development (GRADE), from Peru.
"The aim is to expand regional dialog and cooperation, strengthening the exchange of ideas and experiences in the search for solutions that contribute to the region's development," says Julia Dias Leite, CEBRI's CEO and the initiative's elected executive secretary.
The network was created to be a permanent space for articulation between think tanks in the Americas, promoting joint analysis, innovation in public policies and collaborative actions. The selection of the founding institutions took into account their recognized work in strategic sectors for their countries and the continent.
The initiative features participation from several CEBRI representatives, including José Pio Borges, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and economist André Lara Resende, Member of the Board of Trustees at CEBRI. During its inaugural debates, CEPAS focused on key regional issues like economic growth and security. A highlight of the event was the appearance of former Chilean Finance Minister Felipe Larraín, who represented CLAPES UC.
The creation of CEPAS reinforces CEBRI's commitment to strengthening regional integration and promoting innovative and sustainable public policies, reaffirming its role as one of Brazil's leading centers of thought and strategic articulation on the international stage.
