Tribute to Carlos Mariani

  • 11 february 2025

CEBRI bids farewell to Carlos Mariani, a visionary of the industry and economic development. His journey was marked by an tireless defense of industrialization as a growth engine and a dedication to strengthening the national productive sector.

An engineer by training, he always understood the importance of the country building a modern and competitive industrial policy. During his long tenure at the Brazilian Chemical Industry Association (Abiquim), spanning twenty years, and at the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro (FIRJAN), he was an active voice advocating for Brazil's integration into the global economy.

His role in formulating strategies for industrial development led him to contribute to the Assumption Treaty, which gave rise to Mercosur. Mariani saw regional integration as an opportunity to enhance the competitiveness of the national industry and generate sustainable growth.

In addition to his achievements in the economic field, Carlos Mariani was a leader committed to dialogue and innovation. He advocated for public-private partnerships as an essential tool for advancing infrastructure, recognizing that industrial modernization required building solid foundations for the future.

For us at CEBRI, he leaves an example of commitment and determination that can undoubtedly inspire new generations in their pursuit of the country's development pathways.
