It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Carlos Mariani, Founder of the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI).
Mr. Carlos Mariani had a remarkable and inspiring trajectory, playing a key role in strengthening Brazil’s industrial sector and international relations. He was currently serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors at Participações Industriais do Nordeste S.A. and PIN Petroquímica S.A., as well as Vice-President of the Industry Federation of the State of Rio de Janeiro (FIRJAN).
With a solid and dedicated career, he was Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Brazilian Chemical Industry Association (ABIQUIM) and played a fundamental role in consolidating Brazil’s petrochemical industry, including his contribution to the creation of Braskem. His engagement in business forums, such as Co-Chairman of the Mercosur-European Union Business Forum and the Brazil-Japan Eminent Persons Group, in addition to being a member of the Brazilian Business Coalition, reflected his commitment to Brazil’s economic and diplomatic development.
A mechanical, economic, and industrial management engineer, graduated from the University of Brazil (now the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro), Carlos Mariani leaves behind a legacy of competence, ethics, and invaluable contributions to CEBRI and the country.
We extend our sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.
