The Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) welcomed, on Tuesday (01/07), Ambassador Celso Amorim, a central figure in Brazilian diplomacy and the longest-serving Minister of Foreign Affairs in Itamaraty's history (1993-1994 and 2003-2010). Currently Chief Advisor to the Presidency of the Republic, Amorim shared strategic insights on the challenges and opportunities Brazil faces amidst an increasingly complex international scenario.
Recognized as a reference in Brazilian foreign policy, the Ambassador highlighted Brazil's strategic role during its BRICS presidency in 2025 and underscored the importance of consolidating initiatives such as Mercosur and UNASUR for regional integration and expanding the country’s influence on the global stage.
To position itself strategically in this new geopolitical landscape, Amorim emphasized the importance of acting pragmatically, prioritizing national interests, and strengthening Brazil's engagement in international cooperation with various stakeholders.
The opening of the meeting was conducted by José Pio Borges, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at CEBRI, and Julia Dias Leite, CEO at CEBRI, with the presence of Luiz Ildefonso Simões Lopes, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees at CEBRI and current Vice-President at Brookfield Brasil. Experts and leaders from the public and private sectors also attended, including Trustees, Fellows, and representatives from associated companies such as Veirano Advogados, Prumo Logística, Vale, Banco Bocom BBM, BHP, and Aegea Saneamento.
