Venezuela in perspective: Challenges and future scenarios

Throughout the month of August, the South America Center of the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI) organized a series of events to discuss Venezuela's social, economic and diplomatic challenges following the recent elections, in addition to exploring future scenarios for governance of the country and examine Brazil's role in resolving the Venezuelan crisis.

On August 2nd, journalist Leila Sterenberg, CEBRI Senior Fellow, and Hussein Kalout, CEBRI International Advisory Advisor, debated the post-election challenges and possible paths for Venezuela's future, addressing the humanitarian crisis, international sanctions and the role of multilateral organizations.

On August 8th, experts explored Brazil's role in supporting the stabilization of Venezuela by highlighting the importance of international cooperation and public policies for the reception and integration of migrants, evaluating how the country can balance its national interests with its regional responsibilities.

Finally, on August 14th, the debate was enriched with the presence of international experts who discussed the implications of recent political transformations in Venezuela, in addition to the role played by global and regional actors. The dialogue focused on how the international community can support a peaceful and sustainable solution for the country.
