On Wednesday (August 14th), CEBRI and Innovation Norway hosted the event "Offshore Wind Energy: The Next Steps for the Industry" at the Norwegian Embassy in Brasília to discuss how to enhance the production of clean and competitive energy through the expansion of wind power capacity. Organized in partnership with the Brazilian Wind Energy Association (ABEEólica) and Equinor, the event focused on the key issues, constraints, and opportunities related to the development of offshore wind energy in Brazil. This joint initiative aims to promote the adoption of renewable energy and contribute to the national strategy for sustainable energy transition, addressing successful cases and global experiences.
During the panels, participants discussed the current challenges faced by the offshore wind energy industry in Brazil. Among the topics covered were the feasibility of offshore wind energy as a renewable source, lessons learned from established markets like Norway, as well as challenges related to environmental licensing and the need for demand signaling to boost the sector. The discussions aimed not only to diagnose existing obstacles but also to identify potential pathways for the evolution of this energy source in Brazilian territory.
