Hybrid Event

Advancing digital government at the subnational level: Pathways for cooperation between Brazil and Denmark

The term "digital government" refers to the use of digital technology, particularly the internet and information and communication technologies, to improve the delivery of governmental services, increase citizen engagement, and optimize administrative processes, with the aim of making government operations more efficient, transparent, and accessible to citizens. Denmark and Brazil have been cooperating bilaterally in this field since 2015. This strong partnership has involved mutual exchanges of challenges, strategies, approaches, and institutional experiences in the implementation and expansion of digital government to enhance the delivery of public services in the country. However, advancements face inequalities and connectivity gaps in various parts of the country, which necessitates the continuation of analog services and may, in the long term, affect progress. Therefore, the event's discussion aims to bring together the Brazilian and Danish Ministers of Digital Government and Innovation alongside invited experts for a high-level exchange of perspectives on how to expand and strengthen digital government at both national and subnational levels.
