Biography Marcelo de Paiva Abreu

Trustee at the Brazilian Center for International Relations (CEBRI). He is a Professor at the Economics Department of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), where he teaches courses in Brazilian Economic History and International Economic History and Foreign Policy, having held the position of Director.  He is a CNPq I-A researcher since 1991.

He was a Senior Expert in Trade and Integration at the Inter-American Development Bank and a professor or visiting researcher at the universities of Cambridge, Columbia (Rio Branco Professor 1997), Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Modena, Oxford and Venice.

He is a Mechanical Engineer from PUC-Rio, holds a Master in Economics from the London School of Economics and a PhD in Economics from Cambridge University. He is the author of numerous publications in Brazil and abroad.
