This conference is the third stage of a larger project that will culminate in a Blueprint for a Sustainable Energy Partnership of the Americas which will be presented to the presidents of the region a the Summit of the Americas in Trinidad and Tobago in April 2009. It is designed to discuss how to build an initiative that presents a fresh vision on how to reconcile a global climate initiative with sustainable development in the Amazon rainforest while recognizing Brazil’s leadership role on issues pertaining to the Amazon.
This Project is a collaboration between scholars and receives support from the Center for International Governance and Innovation (Canada), the Council on Foreign Relations (U.S.), the Centro Brasileiro de Relações Internacionais (Brazil), and University of West Indies (Trinidad and Tobago).
