Ambassador Sérgio Danese, who will take charge of the Brazilian Embassy in Buenos Aires in the middle of September, met with Board of Trustees and Associates from CEBRI on August 17, in Rio de Janeiro. Among the participants present were three veterans former ambassadors in Buenos Aires: Vice-Chairman Emeritus of CEBRI, José Botafogo Gonçalves, who moderated the event; Ambassador Marcos Castrioto de Azambuja; and Ambassador Luiz Felipe de Seixas Corrêa.
Ambassador Danese talked about the bilateral relations Brazil-Argentina, that are being deepened dynamically by new governments in both countries. It’s a time of great convergence. According to the ambassador, the government of the presidente Mauricio Macri has a clear comprehension about the role that Brazil can have in Argentina’s recovery. With the resumption of the dialogue, there are potential partnerships from various angles in education, among many others. There is also an important approach with Brazil on climate and environmental area. In Brazil, the recent establishment of parliamentary friendship groups with Argentina was important, something that surprisingly didn’t exist.
